The Measure G Citizens' Oversight Committee was formed following voter approval of CJUSD's Measure G in November 2008.
Measure G is a $225 million bond measure authorizing funding for needed repairs, upgrades and new construction projects within the district. Measure G passed with 73 percent, far more than the 55 percent required by Proposition 39. Since that time, the district has completed two new school campuses, Joe Baca Middle School and Grand Terrace High School, as well as major new math and science buildings at both Bloomington and Colton high schools. Other projects currently underway include extensive modernizations at Crestmore, Grant, Lewis and Lincoln elementary schools.
After a bond authorized under Proposition 39 is passed, state law requires that districts appoint a Citizens' Oversight Committee. In accordance with Education Code Section 15278(b), the committee's responsibilities are to:
Inform the public concerning the District's expenditure of Measure G bond proceeds;
Review expenditure reports produced by the District to ensure that Measure G bond proceeds were expended only for the purposes set forth in Measure G;
Present to the Board of Education in public session, an annual written report outlining their activities and conclusions regarding the expenditure of Measure G bond proceeds.
