On behalf of the staff at Paul J. Rogers Elementary School, I welcome you and your entire family to the 2014-2015 school year. Our school staff is excited about the lessons, activities and events we have planned for this school year. For your convenience we've created a 2014-2015 parent calendar with many events already scheduled! We will continue to send home a monthly calendar as well to ensure that your calendars are completely up to date. We look forward to partnering with you to provide a rewarding educational experience for our students and their families.
At Paul J. Rogers Elementary, we have seen increasing success in our students' achievement. Continuous improvement in academic achievement is a primary focus for our staff and students. Our staff is committed to implementing the new Common Core State Standards, 21st Century technology and being a "Professional Learning Community" in which all members work collaboratively to ensure that all students learn at high levels. We are truly on the trail to excellence!
The education of all children is a team effort. We believe that parents, community members, students and staff should all work together to improve student achievement, so we take pride in involving parents and community members in every aspect of the school. We encourage you to join the Rogers Parent Teacher Association (PTA)-these hard working parents are an essential piece in supporting our school. Parents are also invited to volunteer in our classrooms and on special projects to support Rogers' students and staff. Please notify our office staff or your child's classroom teacher if you are interested in volunteer activities at our school.
Another way you can support classroom instruction is by donating classrooms supplies. Throughout the year, as classroom supplies diminish parents are encouraged to donate the following items:
- Facial Tissue
- Non- toxic dry erase markers
- Colored Pencils
- Glue Sticks
- Unscented baby wipes
- Lined paper
- Graph paper
I invite you to take a few minutes to read our Parent Handbook with your child. It contains the important information you need to get this school year off to a positive start. By reviewing each page together as a family, it will help your child to clearly understand what is expected of them as a student. We hope that you keep it handy to use as a reference for the entire school year. Students in grades 2-6 have a copy of this handbook in their Student Planner for easy reference. Please sign and return the blue parent verification form to your child's teacher as well as other forms that require your signature.
As principal of Paul J. Rogers Elementary School I am honored to have the opportunity to educate your child and I pledge to you that our students are our first priority. Thank you for the opportunity to work with your child and your family. I look forward to a wonderful year together.
Sincerely, Lisa Mannes - Principal
