Colton Middle School CST Testing Schedule

Attention Parents : Please note the release times for each day carefully

April 18^th & 19 (Thursday & Friday) CST Math End of day 3:00 p.m.

April 22 (Monday) CST English End of day 11:15 a.m.

April 23 (Tuesday) CST English End of day 1:22 p.m.

April 24 (Wednesday) CST Science End of day 11:15 a.m.

April 25 (Thursday) CST Science End of day 11:15 a.m.

Friday is a regular day ending at 3:00 p.m.

Colton Middle School Promotion Ceremony to be held at the CHS Ken Hubbs Gym, May 30 at 9:30 a.m.

All 8^th graders who qualify to walk for Promotion Ceremony will come to school on May 30^th and report to their 1^st period class. Roll will be taken and name cards will be distributed. Students will then board buses at 8:30 and be taken to Colton High School's Ken Hubbs Gym for our Promotion Ceremony. Parents are asked to report straight to the Ken Hubbs Gym on the morning of the event. Parents may begin arriving at 8:00 a.m. CMS campus supervisors will be there assist parents and guests. Students will be released to their parents after the event.


	Events and End of Year Activities

May 9 (Thursday) 8^th Grade Dance will be held in the cafeteria from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
May 17 (Friday) 7^th Grade Skating Party at CalSkate, Grand Terrace from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Parents are welcome to attend.
May 18 (Saturday) 8^th Grade Trip to Knotts Berry Farm. Buses will leave CMS at 8:00 a.m.
May 21 (Tuesday) , we will be having our Awards Assembly beginning at 6:00 p.m.
May 24 & 27 (Friday & Monday) - NO SCHOOL
May 26 (Sunday) AVID/NJHS to Magic Mountain
May 28 through May 30 (Tuesday through Thursday) Semester Finals will be given. Students will be released at 11:15 a.m. all three days.
May 30 (Thursday) Last day for all students & Promotion Ceremony at the Ken Hubbs Gym

	Assistant Principal's Corner

The faculty and staff of Colton Middle School hope that Parents, Guardians and Students find your experience at Middle School to be both challenging and rewarding. We trust that your student(s) and you will take advantage of the many opportunities to become involved in student life at our school. Whether you and your students' interests lie in academics, clubs on campus and/or student government, it is our hope that our students will take full advantage of the middle school years to accept new challenges, prepare for high school, make new friends and create good memories.

A student Handbook or Agenda has been produced and provided to all of our students and is a useful tool to be used by our students and parents so that all those involved with your students education will be better informed regarding the policies and procedures of Colton Middle School. As well, the Student Handbook is provided to assist you in setting goals for your students' achievement, organization, and establishing effective study habits through carefully writing down homework every night. This way parents and guardians can help our students effectively complete their required work every evening.

As we work through this academic year and face new challenges remember and we continually ask our students to show respect to yourself and others, be co-operative and to use your Student Handbook everyday to write down homework and classroom activities.

Together we will make this an awesome school year!

	Required Student Materials

Please make sure your student has their student planner, a three ring notebook, (the rings must be at least 2 inches), pencils and a pencil pouch.

Regularly scheduled school-wide noteook checks will be done to make sure students have the proper materials to succeed in school.


	Mission Statement

Colton Middle School's mission is to offer its students a safe and secure environment where the educational experience encourages responsibility and active participation in the learning process. Students, parents, staff and community must work alongside one another in striving to attain this mission.

Colton Middle School is a National Demonstration School.
Congratulations to Zoë Pamintuan, Mark McGuffe and our AVID department on earning this prestigious status.
